Few artists transformed architecture into emotion as profoundly as Giorgio de Chirico, the pioneer of Metaphysical Art. Through deserted piazzas, endless arcades, and elongated shadows, he created dreamlike compositions suspended between reality and imagination, where architecture became a stage for mystery, memory, and contemplation. His paintings continue to inspire contemporary art and design through their timeless balance of geometry, silence and symbolism.
The Enigma Side Table by Malabar is a deluxe designer side table inspired by the poetic ambiguity of de Chirico's visionary landscapes. Defined by its sculptural composition, the piece combines a handcrafted ceramic-tiled base adorned with a rhythmic sequence of relief arches with a refined tabletop, creating a harmonious dialogue between architectural form and functional design. The interplay of geometry, texture and material transforms the table into a timeless artistic statement.
Rather than reproducing de Chirico's imagery, the Enigma Side Table captures the atmosphere that defines his work: quiet, monumental and intriguingly surreal. Every detail celebrates the meeting of architecture, craftsmanship and contemporary collectible design, resulting in a sculptural piece that feels both familiar and unexpected.
Designed as a standalone statement or paired with the Enigma Stools, the Enigma Side Table becomes part of a sculptural composition inspired by the enigmatic worlds of Giorgio de Chirico. Together, the pieces can be arranged in multiple configurations, creating cohesive architectural landscapes where form, materiality, and craftsmanship converge to shape refined residential and hospitality interiors.
Part of Malabar's Future Classics Collection, the Enigma Side Table embodies the brand's commitment to translating iconic artistic movements into handcrafted collectible furniture. Designed for refined residential and hospitality interiors, it offers an expressive fusion of art, materiality, and timeless craftsmanship.
