Where art, design and collaboration take new form.
TBA: 15th Of October
Vanessa Barragão is a Portuguese textile artist and designer known for her richly tactile, nature-inspired works. Drawing on traditional techniques such as weaving, crochet, embroidery and felting, she creates sculptural pieces that explore organic forms, texture and materiality through a distinctly contemporary language.
Her practice is deeply connected to the natural world, with landscapes, coral formations and imagined ecosystems often shaping her visual universe. Working across art and design, Vanessa has developed a recognizable approach defined by craftsmanship, experimentation and a strong sensitivity to material and form.
SEA GARDEN
Sea Garden marks the beginning of a new chapter of Tudo Isto É, with Vanessa Barragão as the first artist invited to reinterpret the Portuguese guitar through the lens of Malabar. The project brings a familiar cultural object into a contemporary context, opening it to new materials, techniques and artistic languages while preserving the identity that makes it instantly recognizable.
For her intervention, Vanessa transforms the guitar into a handcrafted, organic landscape. Hand-worked fibers spread across the wooden body like an underwater garden taking shape, creating a dialogue between structure and softness, tradition and experimentation. The handmade process is central to the piece, bringing texture, individuality and a sense of growth to an object traditionally defined by precision and form. The result reflects both Vanessa’s nature-driven visual language and Malabar’s approach to collectible design: a singular work shaped by craftsmanship, authorship and the meeting of different creative worlds.
