A New Chair Shaped by Movement

The Vela Dining Chair , designed by Ömer Öztürk for Malabar, expresses a contemporary interpretation of movement within a static form. Inspired by the poetic fluidity of a sail shaped by the wind, its silhouette evokes the quiet drama of sculptural art, where balance, tension, and rhythm coexist in perfect harmony.

The backrest reveals a soft organic curve reminiscent of classical arches and modernist sculpture, reimagined through a refined and minimal language. In contrast, the stainless steel frame introduces architectural precision and structural clarity, creating a dialogue between emotion and discipline, softness and permanence.

“Its silhouette is defined by a fluid approach, inspired by the idea of a sail in motion , a new chair shaped by movement.”

More than a dining chair, Vela behaves as a sculptural presence within the interior, shaping atmosphere, guiding spatial flow, and interacting with light and shadow as an artistic composition. Its understated elegance allows it to integrate effortlessly into contemporary spaces while bringing depth, movement and a curated sense of sophistication.
